If you measure the garment to choose your size, you're getting it wrong.
Before you go on, look at the label in the image: size M. And below it, the chest range: 106/112.
That's not what the garment measures. It's what you should measure. That's how it works on any PPE garment.
Where those measurements come from
- The manufacturer defines each size and its actual measurements.
- It states which body measurements the wearer should have.
- The certification body examines it and approves it.
- That recommendation goes into the information leaflet and onto the label.
That's why measuring the garment is no use to you.
Not every M is the same as another M
Each manufacturer defines its own measurements, which may differ even between models of the same brand. One brand's M does not have to be the same as another's. It's neither good nor bad: it's normal.
So the letter gives you a guide, but what really counts are the centimetres shown on the label.
Measure the person. Read the label. Choose.
Ask your health and safety officer. They will guide you.
